What is this blogging thing I keep hearing about?
Wikipedia defines a blog as:
A blog (an abridgment of the term web log) is a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Personal blogs
The personal blog, an on-going diary or commentary by an individual, is the traditional, most common blog. Personal bloggers take pride in their blog posts, even if their blog is read by only a handful of people. Blogs often become more than a way to just communicate; they become a way to reflect on life. Blogging can have a sentimental quality. Personal blogging can be extremely detailed as it seeks to capture a moment in time.
Family Blogs
Family blogs are a simple way to keep in touch with loved ones. Family blogs are perfect for sharing their stories, photos, home movies, and more with friends and family near and far.
Pregnancy Blogs
Pregnancy blogs are an exciting way share and keep a journal of the experiences of expecting a new member of the family. Pregnancy blogs are a great for announcements, sharing milestones, and keeping everyone in the loop, especially in the last few weeks of pregnancy and first couple weeks after delivery when it’s even harder to stay in touch with loved ones.
Baby Blogs
Baby blogs help families share their new baby with loved ones. New parents use their baby blog as an exciting way to share photos and stories of the newest member of their family.
Why blog? Can’t I just mail everyone?
Blogs allow you to share thoughts and feelings instantaneously with friends and family and is much faster and easier than emailing or writing. Blogging also allows viewers stay up-to-date at their own pace and interact with the whole blog community. Email and letters are generally a one way form of communication. Blogs can create a multi way relationship, encouraging broader communication and keeping friends and family closer together.
